DeltaHacks is McMaster's annual student hackathon for change.
We want to encourage students in all fields of study to come together to build real world applications that create positive change. The difference between DeltaHacks and other hackathons is that we embrace elements of design thinking to make "hacks" that solve real world problems.
The ultimate goal behind this hackathon is to include, not only the engineering and computer science students, but all talented individuals from all backgrounds to collaborate, create, and bring ideas to life.
We want you to shoot for the stars.

DeltaHacks is McMaster's annual student hackathon. This year, DeltaHacks will be a 500-participant event taking place from Jan 16th-17th. We hope to inspire students to hack for positive changes that align with their passions - whether it's environment, health, inequality, education, etc. And hence the name “delta” - as “Δ” stands for change.
I have never been to a hackathon before, what should I do?No worries at all. We will be providing mentors during the hackathon and running workshops. You can even read on one of our execs' experience when she started here to see how easy and fun it really is to learn at the hackathon.
When/where is DeltaHacks happening?DeltaHacks will take place on January 16-17, at our beautiful McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
But I don't have an idea, what should I do?Don't worry! We will walk you through how to generate great ideas at the beginning of DeltaHacks.
How about teams?Once the idea generation is done, there will be an open mic and networking time to find a team. Everyone accepted will also be invited to the DeltaHacks' Slack prior to the hackathon in order to discuss ideas.
All university students! If you're someone who is willing to learn and wants to take a shot at changing the world, no matter what your field is, you definitely belong here.
How much does it cost?Nothing! Zero! The event is absolutely free for all participants. We will provide you with the venue, food, Wi-Fi, etc. You just need to show up.
What should I bring? You will definitely need your laptop, phone, their chargers, as well as a valid student or government ID. Feel free to also bring along a sleeping bag, and we recommend some comfortable clothes.
When is the deadline to apply? The deadline for the first round of registration is December 11th at 11:59pm EST. The deadline for the second round of registration is December 24th at 11:59pm EST.
I am not nearby to McMaster, is there travel reimbursement?Although we would love to have you, we won't be able to provide individual travel reimbursement this year. We will be sending buses to certain universities in Ontario.
Is there a Code of Conduct?Yes, we abide by the Major League Hacking Code of Conduct.
